I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Laura Shaw, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW.) I received my Bachelors from East Carolina University in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Relations before pursuing my masters degree at University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where I studied Social Work. I have been working in the mental health field since 2018, when I began as an intern and later worked in different departments of Coastal Horizons Center. I worked in group private practice from 2021-2024 before starting my own practice, Marigold Counseling PLLC in 2025.

Marigolds are considered “companion plants”, meaning they are often planted in gardens to help attract pollinators and encourage the growth of other plants. My mission through Marigold Counseling is to walk alongside clients through struggles and help support others growth. I take a collaborative approach and value the importance of the therapeutic relationship, striving to create a comfortable and supportive environment for clients. I view this role as a privilege and feel grateful to have people trust me with their stories.

Outside of therapy, I love to garden and work in floral design. Being outdoors brings me peace. I love spending time on the water with my family and generally just soaking up sunshine.
